Unconditional

Recently, I realised that while I can’t choose every challenge life brings, I can choose which struggles deserve my energy.

Sometimes, I keep struggling with the wrong people. I explain myself to someone who doesn’t seem willing to understand. I give another chance because I’m attached. I hold on because letting go feels harder than staying.

The more I’ve invested in something, the harder it can be to admit that it may not be good for me. I can start mistaking attachment for connection, familiarity for comfort, and endurance for strength.

Over time, that kind of struggle can leave me drained. It can take energy away from the person I’m trying to become.

Not every struggle is harmful. Some challenges build us, teach us, or stretch us. Others keep us stuck. The work, for me, is learning to tell the difference.

I ask myself: Is this struggle building me or breaking me? Is it teaching me or draining me? Am I growing through it, or slowly losing myself in it?

The energy I spend fighting the wrong battles is energy I could put toward building the life I imagine.

I don’t want to be afraid of struggle. I want to choose it more wisely. Sometimes the strongest decision isn’t to fight harder. It’s to stop fighting the wrong battle.
